Dedicated to the great navigators, Columbus, Pigafetta, Magellan, and Marco Polo, they are perfect, scenic, and adorned with catapults and cannons that look out from the embrasures towards the horizon, defending the city. The Bastions of Alghero are ideal for a romantic stroll; they stand on the cliff face, bordered by old houses. The best time to visit is early morning or at sunset, when the sun dips behind the profile of the Sleeping Giant, the cliff of Capo Caccia.
